About the Oberprether Mühle: A Gem of Rich Tradition in the Heart of the Eifel
In recent years, Oberpreth has become an insider tip for nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet, mainly coming from Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Oberprether Mühle is a gem that rests in the heart of the Eifel, surrounded by beautiful forests and streams.
An Eifel Site Steeped in Tradition
The oldest part of the original mill building (above today's Mühlenkiosk) was first mentioned around 1600. Gradually since then, the respective owners continued to extend the original building and also used it as a residential building. The water-powered flour mill ran until the 1960s. After that, the mill continued to be operated electrically until the 1980s, and the family farm with dairy cows and pigs continued to run until the 1990s.
Since the 60s, the Pfingsten family operated the site behind the house as a campsite, and for a while also as a vacation village with many cozy wooden cottages.
From 2000 - 2009, the family personally converted the former stable into a beautiful residential building.
In the summer of 2019, the Pfingsten family sold the place to us. We look forward to continuing the Oberprether Mühle’s long-standing tradition of offering a truly special place for locals and guests.

Auto: Bitte gebt Hollerath als Zwischenziel in euer Navi ein. Der Weg, der von Giescheid zu uns führt, ist nur für landwirtschaftliche Fahrzeuge freigegeben (und sehr eng).
Bahn & Bus: Zum Bahnhof Kall mit der Regionalbahn und dann mit dem Bus nach Hellenthal. Von Hellenthal ist es zu Fuß etwa 1,5 Stunden, mit dem Fahrrad ca. 40 Minuten. Ihr könnt auch 30 Minuten vor Ankunft in Hellenthal den Taxibus zur Weiterfahrt bestellen: 02441 / 99 45 45 45.
